Engineers At The
Bridge:
The 1st Parachute Squadron Royal Engineers At
Arnhem
The Allied defense of the Arnhem bridge in September 1944 is one of history's most epic battles, and the 1st Parachute Squadron, Royal Engineers, played an important part in it. Finding itself defending several buildings around the bridge, the engineers were forced to put down their picks and shovels, and pick up their rifles and Bren guns to fight as infantry.
Starting with the creation of the squadron and up to the rebuilding after the battle, this is the story of how they held on, even as the buildings they occupied burned and crumbled around them.
6" x 9", 64 pages, 12 original maps and drawings, Roll Of Honour.
