Ministories

The most recent Ministory, number 109, appeared in August 2011. In 'Major C.N.B. Dawson MC and 4th Parachute Brigade (part 2)' British amateur historian Niall Cherry tells about this officer who was the Brigade Major at the time. He did not survive the Battle of Arnhem, and was killed on 20 September 1944. In the latest edition of the Roll of Honour, it reads about him: DAWSON, Charles N.B.; Maj.; 69165; RBR; MC; age 27. FB in a mass grave near Van Tienhovenlaan, west of Sportlaan. Oosterbeek 6.C.11.

History of the Ministories

The editorial committee of the Newsletter developed the 'mini-story' as a result of the need to focus attention on historical accounts about the Battle of Arnhem. In this short-story format, members have been able to tell about their own experiences or publish the results of their research. In particular, the intent was to enable those who experienced the happenings in September 1944 to present what they knew.

'English carrier-pigeons during the Battle of Arnhem' was the first article of what would later be called the 'Ministory', and which generally appears in the four-page format. The author was so modest that he did not sign his name under the story, but we know that it was Chris van Roekel. He would contribute many more articles in the course of time.

This website lists the titles - and sometimes a brief summary - of all of the Ministories that have been published to date. Members of the society automatically receive this appendix of the Newsletter and may also order back-issues.
